General Information
Yamba Nippers (Junior Activities Committee) is a sub group of Yamba SLSC for children from 6-14 years of age.
The Nipper group meets most Sunday mornings from October to March between 9 and 11 am. The older nippers are trained in lifesaving activities to prepare them for patrol work by completing their surf rescue certificate where possible.
Parents are a vital part of the program and each nipper is required to have one parent join the club as a member as well. Full details of the nipper program are outlined in the Nipper Handbook that is available to download in the box on the right of the page.
How to Join
Any child, boy or girl, may join Nippers once they have turned 6 years of age.
Children who turn 6 by October 1st are able to join Yamba nippers for the upcoming season.
New nipper memberships for the current season will not be taken after the 1st of November, unless granted special approval by the committee. This is to enable all participants to complete the necessary Surf Education program conducted each week.
Please note:
- Under 7 nippers activities are sand and shallow water based ONLY and they do not engage in board activities, competition or carnivals.
- Board and Swim activities commence from under 8s up.
- 'Nippers' IS NOT engaged in any form of 'learn to swim' activities.
